It’s a fun thought, isn’t it? To step into the shoes of our favorite NPCs in Teyvat and experience the world through their eyes. While we can’t actually play as them in the traditional sense, Genshin Impact does offer some interesting ways to interact with NPCs and get a glimpse into their lives.
Firstly, we have the Hangout Events. These special events let you spend quality time with certain characters, learning more about their personalities, hobbies, and even their past. You get to choose how the interaction unfolds, leading to different outcomes and dialogue options. While it’s not exactly playing as them, you get a good sense of their perspectives and motivations.
Then there are the Story Quests that revolve around particular NPCs. These quests often let you delve into their personal stories, motivations, and struggles. While you’re still controlling your Traveler, you’re essentially taking on the role of a participant in their lives, helping them through difficult situations and witnessing their growth.
For example, the story quest for Dainsleif throws you into the middle of his ancient secrets and hidden knowledge about Teyvat’s past. You get to witness his motivations firsthand and understand the burden he carries.
And let’s not forget world quests, where you can often interact with NPCs and help them solve problems, uncover mysteries, or simply brighten their day. Each quest adds to the depth of the character and builds a relationship between you and them.
The developers at miHoYo are constantly adding new events and quests, further enriching the experience of interacting with NPCs. This makes the world feel more alive and gives us a deeper connection to the characters who inhabit it.
But ultimately, playing as an NPC in the way we play as our Traveler is not possible within the current game structure. Genshin Impact is built around the player character as the main protagonist, and it’s their journey we follow. However, the game’s unique ways of interacting with NPCs through Hangouts, story quests, and world quests make us feel more connected to the world of Teyvat and its inhabitants. We get to witness their stories, struggles, and triumphs, making them feel like real, breathing characters we care about.
So while we might not be able to directly control them, we can certainly experience the world alongside them and discover the intricate tapestry of their lives.
